Child Care
Childcare at Berkshire Community College is available
at the Norman Rockwell Early Childhood Center for the children at
Berkshire Community College students and for the children of faculty
and staff members as well as the community. Named because of the
artist's sensitive portrayal of the world of children, the Center
is open between 7:30am and 5:30pm, Monday through Friday. This time
period allows parents to attend classes and work while their children
are participating in the Center's comprehensive educational and
recreational programs. This Center has earned accreditation by the
National Academy of Early Childhood Education (N.A.E.Y.C.) for having
demonstrated substantial compliance with nationally recognized Criteria
for high-quality early childhood programs. While at the Center,
the children receive snacks in the morning and afternoon, and can
share meals with their parents. Social workers provide extra help
for children with special needs.
Children from age 15 months to 7 years of age are
eligible for the program at the Norman Rockwell Center. For more
information, students may call Maureen McHugh (Director of the Center)
at 499-4660, extension 3061 or stop in at the Center at its location
on the ground floor of the Susan B. Anthony College Center.
Parents pay a reasonable fee for childcare services
based on their income and the number of hours of care needed.
Intern and work-study students are encouraged to apply
to work at the Center. We guarantee you will find this to be an
extremely rewarding experience.
